Well, here I am again. Two days in a row of being on the internet. Wow!!! That is amazing. Now that I have a little more time, I must update everyone. I got here on Friday night and the city is beautiful. The house that I am staying in is in the historic part of the city. In the center. I am right across the street from a Baskin Robins!!! I know, weird right? My family has a mom, dad, grandma, son and the cousin of the son is here right now. The family and my brother´s (the families really adopt you here) friends are nice. On Saturday morning I was spending time with God, listening to a prophetic song and I saw a crucifix with Jesus on it that is over the door. It is very graphic and when I saw it the power of God fell and hit me like a ton of bricks. I was overcome with emotion. All I could do was sit there and look at the crucifix, entranced. This may be weird for some of you and for that I apologize but it is what happened and I have to tell. It was just a little more revelation of what Jesus did for us on the cross. So then I went to the market with my mom and we bought food for this week. It was nice to be out of the house. After that we had lunch at a restaurant with the rest of the class and then Sarah Jane, Sarah Flemming and I went to explore the city. By the way, there are only three guys and I think ten girls. I feel so surrounded. Well, we saw each others houses and I walked the girls home because it was dark, then I walked home. It is weird being able to walk around Mexico at night by myself, but it is kind of nice. The next day Sarah, Tanya and I went to a church that Esther gave us directions to but we didn´t know exactly where it was. So we spent a half an hour lost in a taxi trying to find the church. However, the driver pulled over to a Jehovah´s Witness Temple and asked the man at the front where the church was. He was nice enough to let us know. The church was great. It was very nice and they had one of the old pastors that now lives in California there preaching, and a woman from England who is a citizen of Mexico and England. We didn´t expect to find people who spoke English but there were many. Weird. After the service we were invited to stay for baptism, lunch, coffee in the afternoon, and a movie. We stayed through lunch and then went back home. I think we are going back next week. That afternoon I had a big meal with my family. That evening our class hung out. In the next morning my mom made me breakfast. A big plate of fruit, cereal, coffee, orange juice, and bread. I had class. For lunch i had really good soup, leftovers from Sunday, and Coke at the house and then my siesta. At five I met with my class so we could all do our homework together. That evening I spent time with my brother and his cousin. Today has been the same except for lunch I had really good tacos with my soup. Oh, I also exchanged my money for pesos. It is weird having 2000 pesos. You feel rich and then realize that it is a lie because 2000 pesos is more like 200 dollar. Which is a lot but can go quickly if you let it.
So about what God is doing. Well, there is poverty all over. I see ladies from the mountains selling dolls to make money and little kids( 7 or 8 years old) selling candy to help support their families. It hurts to see. I read a verse from Luke the other morning that talked about justice and the poor. God is letting me begin to see needs and have more compassion for those needs. Also earlier tonight a guy tried to sell me a yin yang and I didn´t buy it so he put a curse on me and another guy. Please pray for me that I would embody Christ to the people here. Also I took the test that James had.
