      1. When Jesus is central all things are possible.
      2. When the glory of God is central, all things become secondary.
    5. We have the answer to the world’s problems because we have Jesus.
      1. The foreign aid workers who stay longer than 6 months to a year are Christians. When we have Jesus there is a compassion outside of ourselves to draw from that compels us.
      2. Moravians sent missionaries and inspired movements because of the presence and working of Jesus.
  2. Heaven is their home.
    1. We have to quit treating this life as if it were our home.

Think back to the hardest thing you’ve ever gone through where you got more Jesus afterwards, because of it.
Would you do it again?

The iPhone has a specific design for a specific purpose.
We as people are designed to:
-Be filled with the Holy Spirit
-Hear the voice of God
-Take challenges from His leading
-Bring hope to the hopeless
-Live courageously
-Rescue the lost and dying

What makes you feel most alive?

American society has 2 core values:
1. Comfort
2. Safety
^God calls us to something radically different than these.

Matthew 11:1-12

John was 1 day preaching to 1000’s, then the next day he was in prison. Jesus response to him was one that said, “John, I am worth it.”

Is Jesus worth everything to you?
Will you trust Him?

State of the Word

Thought i’d share this. This is a great example of how to use visual’s to help, rather than detract from, a presentation. For more information on visual’s and presentation, two great resources are Slide:ology and Resonate. Both are written by Nancy Duarte and can be found here. Anyway, enjoy!

Catalyst Dallas: Perry Noble – Healthy Leaders Needed in Order to Lead Right Now

Be Present Wall

  1. For some of us are in the middle of a situation that we’ve never planned
    1. Ministry isn’t going quite how we planned it.
    2. We’re a little overwhelmed.
  2. Sometimes things don’t go the way we plan.
  3. 4 questions to ask if things aren’t going quite the way you planned them.
    1. What am I asking God for?
      1. We really can ask God for big things.
      2. Some of us are in troublesome situations, not because we’re stupid, but because God told us to go there.
      3. Is it all about he numbers?
        1. Yes.  It’s about the numbers of people who aren’t going to hell but are going to Heaven.
        2. “One of the problems is that we’re afraid to ask God for something big, because it might bother Him. God is not bothered by our big request. I think God is actually bothered more, many times, by our small faith.”                  -Perry Noble
    2. What am I willing to go through?
      1. God is asking some of you, do you want mild or wild?
      2. “The size of the vision that God is going to give us is directly in proportion to the pain that you and I are willing to endure and there are too many church leaders today going God I want to follow you but I want to take up my matress, I don’t want to take up my cross.” -Perry Noble
      3. Alot of church leaders want to pray, but not many want to perspire and do anything significant, but if you’re going to follow Jesus it’s going to get wild and unpredictable.
    3. Am I seeing Him clearly?
      1. God sometimes allows us to go through harder things so that we can see him more clearly.
      2. Shadrack, Meshak, and Abednego didn’t see Jesus until they were in the middle of the furnace.
    4. What am I willing to believe?
      1. Close youre eyes, face forward, and run
        1. If you stop looking at the problem, and run toward it, it’s not as bad as you thought.
        2. In the middle of one of your biggest problems in ministry, God will still call you to take a step of faith.
      2. “Then Jesus said, ‘Did I not tell you that if you believe,   you will see the glory of God?'”  -John 11:40
      3. We spend to much time trying to get people to listen to God’s word when some of us need to just step out and take God at his word.
      4. God used their pain for progress
      5. Everything here is temporary
      6. You are a temporary container and eternity is worth it.

Catalyst Dallas: Bob Goff – Love Does. Fear Not. The Power of Whimsy

Love Does

    3. Creativity makes people not afraid
  2. Acts 1:1
    1. Look for many convincing proofs that Jesus is alive
  3. We spend so much time memorizing Jesus, rather than meeting Jesus.
    1. That’s what stalkers do.  They memorize and never meet
    2. Stop creeping Jesus out by stalking him.
  4. Quit Thursdays
    1. Thursdays are for quitting things.
    2. If we never offload anything, then we’re hoarders.

Catalyst Dallas: Rudy Rasmus – Our Call to the Poor and the Broken

Be Present Theme

Chris Seay, the pastor of Ecclesia in Houston had the chance to interview his friend Rudy Rasmus who is the Pastor of St. John’s, one of the most ethnically diverse church’s in our nation.  Below are the notes:

Rudy learned most about being present in his aunt’s food market on ailse 1:

  1. Lesson’s from Ailse 1
    1. Engage before judging.
      1. Most judgement comes out of fear.
    2. Embrace your pain.
      1. If you can embrace your pain, then it is easier to embrace the pain of others.
    3. Love before leaving.
      1. Love before leaving someone’s pressence.
      2. At the core of this is accepting who you are, where you are, and why you are, and then making the decision to go forward from there.
  2. 1 Cor. 9:20-23
    1. You’re the only Jesus some will ever see is misread alot to mean “You better be just like Jesus and perfectly moral or nobody’s ever gonna come to Jesus.”
    2. No one connects because they’re awesome. It’s not that, but rather, we like to put together our ____________ anonymous groups.
    3. What draws us is that we are looking for a group to walk the path towards redemption together.
  3. What has God called me in the place that I am?
  4. Rudy’s goal at this point of the journey is to become more peaceful, more loving, and to demonstrate with even more authenticity about what I preach everywhere.

    1. He learned about kingdom life from watching Tony live life.
  2. His son ran the 4×400 relay and the kid before his son dropped the batton.
    1. The 4×400 relay is all about the handoff

    3. Alot of times we train on the wrong track.
    4. His son’s response was to reposition himself, in order to get back into the race.
  3. Who do you mirror your life after?
    1. (speaking about God the Father) “The more I learn about my Father, the more I have something to model.” -Kirk Franklin
    2. When Kirk felt like no one noticed him in the industry at the American Music Awards he spoke to God about it. He felt like God gave him a glimpse of what it feels like to be God in our culture.
    3. The Village Inn video shows Michael Jackson perfectly following the director so that the steps light up.
      1. Every step will light up, because our steps have been planned out, if we follow the instructions of the Director.
